Key Personnel

Underwriting and Medical Personnel

Underwriting Central's cadre of medical and underwriting professionals include 22 physician Medical Directors, 10 underwriters and 1 registered nurse.

Our physicians combine clinical experience with research and insurance medicine expertise and include former Chief Medical Directors of companies such as New York Life, First Colony Life (Genworth) and Provident Mutual Life.


Our specialties include oncology, pulmonary dysfunction, endocrine disorders and rheumatology.


Our underwriting staff include former Chief Underwriters from American General Life, Banner Life, Life of Virginia, J. C. Penney Life, Provident Mutual Life, State Mutual and Shenadoah Life.

Michael V. Fasano, FLMI - President

Michael Fasano began his career in 1972 at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he served as Senior Budget Examiner until 1976. From 1976 until 1983, Mr. Fasano served as Investment Advisor to General Investment Funds, a pension management group with $1.7billion in assets under management. In 1983 Mr. Fasano was appointed Executive Vice President of Trans-General Life Insurance Company, and in 1986 he was named President. Mr. Fasano served as President and CEO of Trans-General until 1990, when he started Fasano Associates.

Mr. Fasano previously served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland's Graduate School of Management and Technology, University College. He has served on the Board of Visitors of Northwestern University's College of Arts and Sciences since 1993. Mr. Fasano received his B.A. from Northwestern in 1970, and his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1971.

Mr. Fasano now serves as President of Fasano Associates, with primary responsibility for directing the firm's underwriting business. His previous assignments have included reorganizing an individual life & health strategic business unit, developing a new portfolio of long term care products, and negotiating the sale of life and health lines of business, as well as significant portfolio of mortgages and real estate. Mr. Fasano has written numerous articles published in Best's Review, Pensions and Investments, and the American Council of Life Insurers' Publication, Forecast. He is a frequent speaker at industry seminars and conferences. Currently, Mr. Fasano is serving as a Board Member of LISA.
